Filmmakers - START by submitting your 1 minute shorts

ROUND 1. (5 entries per round)

• Each short is max 1 min.  You don't need an ending - just your best hook.

• Audience votes will be collected across social media and the Popflix! website.

• The short with the least votes gets eliminated.

• The four remaining will each unlock £1,000 funding for round 2.

ROUND 2. Filmmakers have 2 weeks to send in the next 4 minutes of their storylines. 

• The four successful storylines will now each have a total runtime of 5 minutes (rounds 1 - 2).

• There is a new round of voting - the storyline with the least votes gets eliminated.

• The three remaining will each unlock £2,000 funding for round 3.

ROUND 3. Filmmakers have 3 weeks to send in the next 10 minutes of their storylines.

• The three successful storylines will now each have a total runtime of 15 minutes (rounds 1 - 3).

• There is a new round of voting - the storyline with the least votes gets eliminated.

• The two remaining will each unlock £5,000 funding for round 4 and will be screened as pre-feature shorts at local cinemas.

ROUND 4. Filmmakers have 6 weeks to send in the next 15 minutes of their storylines.

• The two successful storylines will now each have a total runtime of 30 minutes (rounds 1 - 4).

• There is a new round of voting - the storyline with the least votes gets eliminated.

• The remaining film will unlock £30,000 funding plus professional support for crowd-funding and attracting investors (with a minimum target budget of £100,000) for production of an additional 60 minutes.

ROUND 5. 4 months allocated for production of the final 60 minutes.

• The finished feature, a full 90 minutes from rounds 1 - 5 will secure consideration for Netflix distribution.

PopFlix! aims to bridge the gap between short-form social media content and long-form narrative drama 

- in a way that can minimise upfront risk for producers and engage audiences with the most compelling stories.
